More FAQS

My child can't bring a windows-based laptop with a USB port, is that okay?
We are more than happy to lend laptops to students for the duration of the course, for practice in class and also for homework.

How much is the course and what does it include?
The course £295 + VAT, this price includes:
Booking fee
Specialist Teaching
All prizes and goodies
Snacks in the break
Use of a laptop
1 year online touch typing program subscription

Do you accept childcare vouchers?
We are not a government registered childcare provider so we cannot accept childcare vouchers.

What ages is this course suitable for?
All courses have a good mix of students; from the youngest at 7 years of age who are beginning to learn basic keyboarding skills, to the more mature students of 16 and 17 years of age, who may need this skill in order to type at a greater speed for their exams.

How do I know how well my child has progressed?
We carry out a time trial at the beginning of the course and a like for like time trial at the end.  All students see themselves improving throughout the week(s) and are genuinely delighted in their achievements.
There is a lot of personal feedback during the courses. Feedback is also given verbally, by text, at pick up time and by email where necessary.

What can I typically expect my child to achieve by the end of a course?
A typical student with no prior knowledge of the keyboard might start the week at 4wpm 13% accuracy and finish the week being able to type at 8wpm 95% accuracy.  We have students who finish the week at 25 – 70wpm, depending on their prior knowledge of the keyboard! We expect an accuracy score of at least 90% and we expect all children to be able to close their eyes and know which finger is on which key!

My child can't attend all days of the course, is this okay?
All students are expected to attend EVERY DAY of the course in order to fully benefit. If there is a reason your child can't attend 1 day, we can usually adapt to make sure they are still learning as much as possible.

How much practise should my child be doing during the course?
We expect children attending the 5-day courses to be practising for 20 mins daily, while our weekly course students we expect 10 mins daily . We also ask all students to complete small creative homework tasks everyday for which they are rewarded with goodies and prizes.

What are the next steps post course?
We encourage children to go away and continue practising, using the typing program subscription we give them. There is a presentation on the last day of the course for carers/parents on how to effectively utilise the program moving forward. We would recommend a follow-up course, to those students who have been practising at home for a minimum of 3 months.
